Mark Ruffalo is an actor who is popularly known for playing The Hulk in several superhero flicks including the Marvel "Avengers" movies. Besides playing the giant green superhero in many popular movies, the Oscar nominated actor has been in many others like “Foxcatcher,” “Spotlight” and “Collateral.”
Ruffalo was born on November 22, 1967 in Kenosha, Wisconsin to parents Frank Lawrence and Marie Rose. When he was a teenager, he moved with his family to Virginia and then moved to San Diego after high school and later to Los Angeles.
Ruffalo’s movie debut was in the 1994 film “Mirror Mirror 2: Raven Dance.” He also appeared in “Mirror Mirror 3: The Voyeur.” He later had his Broadway debut in 2006 in “Awake and Sing!”
In the early stages of his long acting career, he was in movies such as “The Destiny of Marty Fine,” “The Dentist,” “Safe Men,” 54,” “The Last Castle” and “My Life Without Me.”
In 2004, he played opposite Jennifer Garner in "13 Goin on 30" and was in “Collateral” with Tom Cruise and Jamie Foxx.
He was then in movies including “Just Like Heaven,” “All the King’s Men,” “Blindness,” “The Brothers Bloom,” “What Doesn't Kill You,” “The Kids Are All Right,” “Shutter Island” and “Date Night,” which all lead to his first appearance as Bruce Banner/The Hulk” in “The Avengers” in 2012.
Ruffalo played The Hulk in many other movies after “The Avengers.” He was in the 2015 movie “Avengers: Age of Ultron” and was later in “Thor: Ragnarok,” “Avengers: Infinity War” and “Avengers: Endgame.” He was also in a handful of episodes of the Disney+ show, “She-Hulk: Attorney at Law.”
Some of the other movies starring Ruffalo are “Thanks for Sharing,” “Now You See Me,” “Dark Waters” and “The Adam Project.” He has been nominated for three Academy Awards for his acting in the movies “The Kids Are Always Right,” “Foxcatcher” and “Spotlight.” He has also tried his hand at directing with the 2010 movie “Sympathy for Delicious.”
Ruffalo has been married to actress Sunrise Coigney since 2000. The two share three children, Keen, Bella and Odette.
