Jason Momoa is an American television and film actor who gained popularity for portraying warriors, fighters, and action-packed characters due to his muscled physique. He currently stars as the leading in the "Aquaman" movie series and had his break-out role in the critically acclaimed television series "Game of Thrones." He shares two chidlren with "Cosby Show" star Lisa Bonet. The couple announced their separation in January 2022.
Born in Hawaii, Momoa later moved to Iowa while in high school, where his mother raised him. He attended college at the University of Hawaii's marine biology program but left to pursue his acting career as a lifeguard on the "Baywatch: Hawaii" television series. After the show ended, Momoa earned roles in 2004 on the "North Shore" series and played "Ronon Dex" in "Stargate: Atlantis" from 2004 until 2009.
In 2011, Momoa successfully auditioned for the role of Dothraki King Khal Drogo in the Emmy-nominated HBO show "Game of Thrones." He appeared in this role for the first two seasons of the show. His other parts include Declan Harp in Discovery Channel's "Frontier" drama series and his current role as Baba Voss in "See," an Apple TV science fiction show.
In 2016, Momoa earned the part of Arthur Curry in the DC Extended Universe before heading the film "Aquaman" in 2018, and its sequel set for 2023. He also appeared as Duncan Idaho in the "Dune" movie in 2021. He earned a Screen Acting Guild Awards for outstanding performance by an ensemble in a Drama Series for his role in "Game of Thrones" and an MTV Movie Award in the "best kiss" category for his romance with Amber Heard’s character in "Aquaman," Mera. Momoa also has multiple short films via his production company, Pride of Gypsies, including "Road to Paloma" in 2014.
