Garth Brooks is a country singer behind the popular songs “Friends in Low Places” and “The Dance.” The country music star has won many awards for his achievements like the CMA Entertainer of the Year Award, Grammy Awards and is a member of the Country Music Hall of Fame. Brooks is married to Trisha Yearwood and has three children, Allie Colleen, Taylor Mayne Pearl and August Anna Brooks from his previous marriage to Sandy Mahl.
Brooks was born on February 7, 1962, in Tulsa, Oklahoma to Troyal and Colleen Brooks. Before moving to Nashville, he played at bars and clubs in Oklahoma. He graduated from Oklahoma State University in 1984 and moved to Nashville a few years later with his first wife.
He put out his first self titled album in 1989 and included the hit single “Much Too Young (To Feel This Damn Old.)” His second album “No Fences” was another success and had the hit song "Friends in Low Places."
His third album “Ropin’ the Wind” came out in 1991 and was the first country record to be at the top of the pop charts. Garth continued to release albums over the years like “The Chase,” “In Pieces,” “Fresh Horses,” “Garth Brooks in…the Life of Chris Gaines,” “Scarecrow,” “The Lost Sessions,” “Man Against Machine,” “Gunslinger” and “Fun.”
Brooks has taken home the award for CMA Entertainer of the Year seven times, which is more than any other artist. He has gone on massive tours,had a Las Vegas residency and is the only artist to release nine albums that have gotten diamond status. He has won 17 American Music Awards and two Grammy Awards.
Brooks is a member of the Country Music Hall of Fame, Songwriters Hall of Fame, Musicians Hall of Fame and the Grand Ole Opry.
Brooks met his now wife, Yearwood in a recording studio. At the time of their initial meeting, they were both married to other people. They became fast friends and collaborators.
Brooks and Yearwood got married in 2005 after their respective divorces and have been together since.
