Propeller plane crashed into water in California after flying erratically: report
The plane crash happened a few miles away from the Half Moon Bay Airport
{{#rendered}} {{/rendered}}A plane that crashed into the Pacific Ocean in Half Moon Bay, California, Sunday evening has been found, reports say.
Crews are inspecting part of the wreckage that was found upside down in the water, the San Mateo County Sheriff's Office told KGO-TV.
The crash happened around 7:15 p.m. local time near Moss Beach Distillery, authorities said.
{{#rendered}} {{/rendered}}Sheriff's office Sgt. Philip Hallworth told KRON that evidence shows a plane went into the water after it was flying erratically and that the aircraft was found in the water. Search and rescue teams responded to the crash.

The crash happened a few miles away from the Half Moon Bay Airport on Cabrillo Highway, Hallworth said.

{{#rendered}} {{/rendered}}Witnesses told investigators they saw the plane flying erratically before losing sight of it while eating dinner nearby, and heard the engine sputter, FOX 2 KTVU reports.
The U.S. Coast Guard, California Highway Patrol and fire crews also responded to the crash.
