Six Flags roller coaster incident: Multiple people injured on El Toro ride in New Jersey
The roller coaster, El Toro, had closed down for inspections last summer
{{#rendered}} {{/rendered}}Multiple people were injured on a Six Flags Great Adventure roller coaster on Thursday evening, New Jersey police said.
A spokesperson for the Jackson Township Police Department told Fox News Digital that the injuries happened on the El Toro ride, and stated that most of the injuries were minor.
Several people were taken to a local hospital for "bumps and bruises," the spokesperson said.

El Toro, which means "the bull" in Spanish, is a wooden roller coaster that was opened at Great Adventure in 2006. It's the main roller coaster of the Mexican-themed section of the New Jersey amusement park.
{{#rendered}} {{/rendered}}El Toro is one of the top-rated wooden roller coasters in the United States with a steep 76-angle drop, maximum speed of 70 miles per hour, and height of 181 meters.
El Toro has the second-largest drop height of wooden roller coasters in the country at 176 feet, behind Six Flags Great America's Goliath.

{{#rendered}} {{/rendered}}New Jersey's Department of Community Affairs had closed down the ride for inspection in 2021 after it had partially derailed. No park visitors were injured in that incident.
"El Toro is expected to reopen this spring following extensive testing, inspections by internal and external experts, and state certification," Six Flags said in a statement last February.
