Zeta raced into the Northeast Thursday evening after being downgraded to a post-tropical cyclone, dumping rain across the region and still packing winds of around 50 mph.
At least six deaths have been linked to the storm since it made landfall on the Gulf Coast Wednesday with winds exceeding 100 mph. A Louisiana coroner said a 55-year-old man was electrocuted by a downed power line. Four others died in Alabama and Georgia when trees fell on their homes. And a 58-year-old Mississippi man drowned in Biloxi while trying to take video of the storm, according to the another coroner there.
The storm knocked out power to over 2.5 million and threatened to create more destruction as its damaging winds and heavy rains traveled northeast.
