Hello! My name is Jessie Watson from Florida! Me and my husband have a four year old girl named Collins. Covid has been very hard for her understand mainly because right when quarantine started she was just getting in the swing of things at preschool. She was loving socializing and being in a classroom setting. She was building relationships and really enjoying doing so. At this time we met our neighbors and she created a special bond with their little boy Remy. They were a huge constant in our lives during the shut down when going places were limited. As a four year old girl and a three year old boy you can imagine the phase of life they are in. Santa is magic and Santa is Christmas. With local malls not having Santa to visit, I was determined to give them the experience of Christmas Magic. The 13 year old and I (we had 2 friends with us this time) have gone to Joseph House (for homeless or addicted veterans) and gave out blankets, toothbrushes, socks, deodorant, snacks and other items. Here is our 9 year old little girl at 1am in the morning with her Christmas Saddle. She had been dreaming and asking for it for over 2 years. She hopes to become a barrel racer and has slept with it every night since Christmas Day. Since March my father has been in quarantine at his retirement home. At this point, he is in his room and cannot even go out into the hall. Every few days I try to take him something like a "happy meal" or a magazine or something to entertain him during his hours and hours alone. Several weeks ago I took a carrier bag filled with goodies and a 50 foot rope over to him and delivered it to the desk at the front to be delivered up to him. The rope, of course, was hidden in the bottom of the bag. I called him on the phone and told him that he must tie the rope to the bag and when I came we would use the bag for deliveries. Usually I have taken his stocking over about 11 PM on Christmas Eve and hung it on his door knob but since I can’t get in the building now to visit him or even drop things off we’ve been using the bag which he lowers from his fourth floor apartment down to the ground and I fill it with his goodies. This is a picture of me delivering his stocking and presents on Christmas morning you can see him over the edge of the balcony on the fourth level and me down on the ground and the bag of goodies on its way up to BILL. This has become one one of the highlights of his week that we both look forward. I feel like I’m delivering goodies to somebody in a treehouse. I get to see him and know how he is doing and he knows we love him and are thinking of him every day. Strange year My girlfriend spent the holidays with her family and as most of us in England went into lock down just a few days before Christmas I sadly couldn't go and join them. My immediate family locally were shielding so I spent Christmas this year just with my dog. A Romanian rescue called Fox. Every year, one of my friends parents dress up as Santa and Mrs. Santa Claus. We were able to get pictures in my friends living room instead of at the Christmas party they usually do. HAVE A MERRY CHRISTMAS TO THE TEAM OF DOCTORS AND NURSES IN OMAHA, NEBRASKA, WHO SAVED MY LIFE--Jet Britanabe. Jet is my only grandchild. Lord willing, he will be two years old in January!!! Before his birth, doctors in San Diego told Jet’s mother she should take mercy upon Jet by aborting him. Jet’s mom said, "You are asking me to end my son’s life. As his mother, my job is to protect him. God gave him life, and only God has the right to take it from him." Jet is one of two children known to be born alive with an extremely rare chromosome disorder. No heart surgeon in California would agree to perform a common heart surgery on an infant with such a rare disorder. However, a team of specialists in Omaha agreed to look at Jet’s ultrasounds, and said: "We do not "discriminate" against babies with chromosome disorders." So on December 30, 2018, the Britanabe family left for Omaha NE and the rest is history. Christmas came early to a young equestrienne in Miami when her dad delivered Murphy with a big red bow. Murphy is a 16 hand warm blood hunter jumper. We are blessed to have survived COVID so far. Our visit with Santa was a little different this year, but the magic of Christmas was still very much alive! Fox, The Burton Fire District, in Beaufort County, SC., has been doing a community Santa for over 30 years where we bring Santa into the community on a trailer with fire trucks, and Santa hands out holiday safety candy and poses for pictures. It is a much anticipated family tradition in our area, and we even have photos of parents today taking photos with our Santa and their children as they did with their parents decades ago. With COVID-19, for the first time in 30 years, we could not do this program because it encouraged people to gather for Santa. So we partnered with our local schools and brought Santa to them for a vehicle event. Families remained in their vehicles, but Santa gave each child that personal contact - a wave and wink, along with the holiday safety candy from a gloved/masked firefighter. We also delivered the holiday safety candy "from the North Pole" to our local schools for children who could not come see Santa that night. We also have placed up Santa Mailboxes for local children to mail their letters directly to Santa. Every letter with a legible name and address will get a personal reply from Santa. We were determined to bring some normalcy and joy this holiday for our community. We believe seeing Santa provided that for our little ones. My mother is 90 y/o and has Alzheimer. We, her children, take turns to care for her with the help of other caregivers. Good morning! Our family, like so many others, weathered a challenging 2020! My grand daughter was born overseas in 2018 while her dad was stationed in Europe with the US Army. He is now a first responder in the US. My mom passed end of September. We brought her home from the nursing home in June. She loved her friends at Pruitt and I felt she would have wanted me to do this. Our home was ground zero for the Paradise Camp Fire on Nov 8, 2018. We lived on the edge of the Feather River Canyon. The fire roared out of the canyon destroying Paradise burning at the rate of 80 football fields a minute and took over 1400 homes and killed 85 souls. These are my two grandchildren whom I have custody of. They both have Cystic Fibrosis and Elijah was recently diagnosed as Type 1 diabetic. It is not easy raising grandkids especially with medical needs or any kids nowadays but I do my best. I have always taught them that no matter how little we have there are others that have less. Therefore, every year we make about 15 assorted cookie platters and about 40 lbs of rock candy and give it away as gifts to many people. Kings Cross Presbyterian Church, Sapulpa, Ok. Held its first annual Christmas Toy Store. Families were able to buy donated new Toys for garage sale prices. $.50 to $2.00 for toys with purchase price of $5.00 to $25.00. This year started off with their soccer being canceled right after we bought all the gear but never played a game, birthdays with no guests, and recently Thanksgiving without their cousins was tough. We as a family try to give back at Christmas. It can be by small way like making home made Christmas cards to send to military who are away from their family or to kids and older people without family at the hospital during the holidays are a few examples or to make Cookies for others to give. 2020 has been a tumultuous year for sure but I am thankful for family and those that selflessly served our Country. My 93 year old grandfather, John Hobson, is a retired US Air Force Colonel and lives with my Uncle (also retired Air Force Colonel) and Aunt in OH. He continues to stay active and serve his community by whittling walking sticks and donating the money he earns to a local foodbank. Hi, I'm a photographer, and every year I take a funny photo of our kids "helping" to decorate. They are all photoshopped (no possibility for harm for any kids), but meant to look realistic. I made these elf outfits for my husband & I while recovering from a knee surgery. Couldn’t wait until we got the sleigh down from the barn! Kings Cross Presbyterian Church, Sapulpa, Ok. Held its first annual Christmas Toy Store. Families were able to buy donated new Toys for garage sale prices. $.50 to $2.00 for toys with purchase price of $5.00 to $25.00. We wanted to provide help for families who couldn’t afford the full price of a nice gift but not be welfare. We provided gifts for 96 kids. Our congregation was so generous that we are doing a second store with the remaining toys.
