Throughout his tenure at FNC, Llenas reported on some of the biggest stories. Llenas provided viewers with live updates from candidate headquarters throughout the 2024 New Hampshire Primary. In November 2022, he covered the crash of the Chinese Spy Balloon and covered the 2022 midterm election races primarily from Pennsylvania. He covered COVID-19 from the epicenter of the pandemic in New York City – as well as the racial justice protests throughout the tumultuous summer of 2020. In 2021, Llenas covered the scandals that eventually led to New York Governor Andrew Cuomo's resignation.
He reported on the 2020 presidential election from Pennsylvania. Additionally, Llenas covered the high profile "El Chapo" and Jeffrey Epstein trials, and Epstein’s subsequent death.
Llenas also covered President Donald Trump’s transition to the White House in 2016, the 2016 terror bombings in Manhattan, the 2014 World Cup live from Brazil, the inauguration of Pope Francis live from Rome and the Pope’s subsequent visit to the U.S.
He has responded to countless breaking news stories from mass shootings like on the New York City subway in April 2022, the Parkland school shooting in 2018 and the shooting at a church in Sutherland Springs Texas in 2017. He’s covered hurricanes Laura, Irma, Florence, Harvey, and Maria, traveling to Puerto Rico, six months after the powerful storm to update viewers on the recovery efforts. In 2017, Llenas became the first non-French journalist to fly with the precision aerobatic demonstration team of the French Air Force, Patrouille de France.
Dominican-American, and bilingual, Llenas has traveled to the US/Mexico border, Central America and Haiti. He visited both sides of the southern border and has highlighted the stories of migrants, including witnessing the drowning death of a migrant, while later helping his friend get to safety to avoid the same fate. In June 2021, Llenas traveled to Guatemala and Mexico City to report on root causes of immigration as well as Vice President Kamala Harris’ historic trip to the region. Two months later, he provided breaking news coverage from Port Au Prince, Haiti, following the 7.2 magnitude earthquake that caused extreme destruction and killed more than 1,400 in August.
Llenas has been recognized for his humanizing work including his feature pieces highlighting the stories of prominent Latinos, as well as inspiring figures in the LGBTQ+ community.
