The New Kids on the Block The New Kids on the Block (Jordan and Jonathan Knight, Joey McIntyre, Donnie Wahlberg and Danny Wood) were the first of the boy bands and were absolute sensations in the early '90s. After the group split in 1994 and Jordan and Joey attempted to go solo, Donnie focused on acting and started a Boston-based record label. Jonathan left the entertainment industry and went into real-estate. In a very surprising (and delightful?) move, the group got back together in April 2008 but fizzled shortly thereafter. The Backstreet Boys The Backstreet Boys (Nick Carter, Brian Littrell, Howie Dorough, Kevin Richardson, and AJ McLean) were responsible for the boy band resurrection in the mid-nineties. The group went on a brief hiatus during which members Nick, Brian, and AJ all attempted to go solo. They are now back together as a quartet (Kevin left the group) and have been touring the world showing fans that they've still got it. Maybe old guys can dance.!['N Sync]()
'N Sync Much to the dismay of The Backstreet Boys, 'N Sync (Justin Timberlake, JC Chasez Lance Bass, Chris Kirkpatrick, and Joey Fatone) found massive success with hits like "Bye Bye Bye" and "Tearin' Up My Heart." The group announced they were going on hiatus in 2002 and eventually broke up for good. Since then, Justin has gone on to become an A-list star, Lance came out of the closet, JC tried and failed to start a solo career, Joey came in second on "Dancing With The Stars," and Chris participated in the celebrity reality show "Gone Country."![The Hanson brothers]()
The Hanson Brothers In the '90s, the Hanson brothers (Isaac, Taylor, and Zac) caused a sensation with their fluffy hit "Mmmbop." The trio was never able to replicate their initial success but continues to record music for their own independent label, 3CG Records. All three brothers are also married with children.![LFO]()
LFO The group LFO (Rich Cronin, Devin Lima, and Brad Fischetti), became megastars thanks the silly "Summer Girls" song we were all singing in 1999. The group went on hiatus in 2003 and it seemed as though they were done for good. In 2009 the group announced via Myspace that they would reunite but not much came out of the reunion. Or Myspace. 98 Degrees While 98 Degrees (Nick and Drew Lachey, Justin Jeffre, and Jeff Timmons), never attained the same level of success as some of the others, they still had a successful run, especially with their hit ballad "Invisible Man." While the group never formally broke up, they have been on hiatus since 2004 and all seem to have moved on. Nick Lachey became the most high-profile member thanks to his marriage, and divorce, from Jessica Simpson and some solo success. Drew was the winner of the second season of "Dancing With the Stars." Justin is a political activist and Jeff released a solo album which flopped in the U.S. but succeeded overseas.![Dream Street]()
Dream Street The cuties of Dream Street (Jesse McCartney, Gregory Raposo, Matt Ballinger, Frankie Galasso and Chris Trousdale) burst on the scene in 1999 and catered to a younger audience. Despite achieving gold status, overall sales for the albums were disappointing and the group split in 2002. Since then, Jesse has found significant success as a solo artist. Greg released a solo album which charted at #40 in its opening week. Matt graduated from Tufts University. Frankie voiced a few songs as Christopher Robin in two "Winnie the Poo" movies. Chris is the other success story, becoming a big hit on Radio Disney and completing two films in 2008 - "Seducing Spirits" and "Sacred Journey."![Take That]()
Take That The British band Take That (Gary Barlow, Howard Donald, Jason Orange, Mark Owen, and Robbie Williams) was massive in the UK in the early and mid 90's. Robbie Williams left the band due to drug addiction in 1995 and the rest of the group called it quits the following year. Robbie went on to become a successful solo star, Gary had a few successful singles in the UK, Howard went back to his DJ roots, Jason traveled the world and went back to college and Mark released three solo albums. The group, sans Robbie, got back together in 2006 and they've been back on top ever since. Then, in 2010 Robbie came back to join the band.
