After fans noticed a trend in Lady Gaga’s “A Star is Born” press tour, Madonna couldn’t resist the urge to take a jab at the singer, toward whom she’s shown animosity in the past.
While promoting her co-starring role alongside Bradley Cooper, Gaga has repeated the same line in reference to how she was selected for the role — which turns out to be the opposite of something Madonna once said.
“There can be 100 people in a room and 99 of them don’t believe in you, but all it takes is one and it just changes your whole life,” Gaga has said several times.

Madonna, who has criticized Gaga for allegedly ripping her off in the past, posted a story on Instagram from an interview back in the 1980s where she says the inverse of the now-popular Gaga quote.
“If there are 100 people in a room and 99 say they liked it, I only remember the one person who didn’t.”
Fans were split on social media with some siding with Gaga while others agreed with Madonna that the “Bad Romance” singer is known to follow a little too closely in her footsteps. As Page Six notes, this is hardly the first time that the duo have criticized each other.

In 2012, Madonna publicly stated that she doesn’t think Gaga is original. She later called her hit “Born this Way” “reductive.”
Gaga fired back in 2016 in an interview with Billboard.
“Madonna and I are very different,” she said. “But I play a lot of instruments. I write all my own music. I spend hours and hours a day in the studio. I'm a producer. I'm a writer. What I do is different."
