LL Cool J’s former co-star declines rapper’s help after troubling video emerges

LL Cool J asks fans on social media to help find his former co-star Maia Campbell after a troubling video emerged, but the actress claims she is fine. (Reuters)

Maia Campbell told former co-star LL Cool J Monday night that she doesn't need the rapper's assistance after he asked his social media followers to help locate Campbell following a video reportedly showing the actress asking for drugs.

Campbell told the rapper in a video message that she is good, according to Vibe.

“Hey Todd (LL Cool J’s birth name), look bro, I love you,” Campbell said.

“I don’t need help, I just need a benefit concert for mental health. Don’t DM me, it’s really me and this is Darryl (person filming).”

“This is the shop that I temp at, or whatever. We’re good. I’m good. I’m doing property, I have investments. I’m a real serious person,” Campbell continued.

A video that emerged this weekend reportedly showed the actress pumping gas in Stone Mountain, Ga., wearing only a bra and panties, and telling the person filming, “I want crack,” according to Fox 23 News.

The rapper, who worked side-by-side with Campbell in the sitcom “In the House” from the show’s air in 1995 to 1999, wrote on his Instagram page: “If anyone has a contact on Maia pls let me know.”

The rapper then took to his Twitter account to criticize the person who filmed the video.

“Instead of pulling out your phone and filming someone who’s obviously having trouble. Maybe lend a helping hand? A kind word?”

Campbell has been publicly battling her substance abuse and mental issues for years and most recently appeared in an episode of “Iyanla Fix My Life” in 2012 and spoke frankly about her fight.

LL Cool J tweeted late Monday: “You can’t help someone who doesn’t want your help.”
