Jonas called the marriage "irretrievably broken" in the filing.
Since rumors began circulating earlier this week that the couple were headed toward a divorce, media outlets have run multiple narratives, many of which identify Turner’s "partying" as a reason for their divorce – something the former couple denied in their statement.
The split news came as a shock to fans, as Turner had posted a photo of herself kissing Jonas' hand backstage at his Jonas Brothers tour to Instagram just a few weeks ago, while Jonas posted a photo flaunting his wedding ring as the divorce rumors sparked earlier this week.

The couple, who reportedly had a prenuptial agreement, recently sold the Miami home they purchased together in 2021 for $15 million.
Jonas and Turner initially met after the musician messaged her on Instagram, becoming engaged a year later in 2017.
"We had a lot of mutual friends and they’d been trying to introduce us for a long time," Turner shared with Harper's Bazaar UK in 2019. "We were following each other on Instagram and he direct-messaged me one fine day, out of the blue."
The couple had an impromptu wedding at the Little White Wedding Chapel in Las Vegas following the Billboard Music Awards in 2019. They were married by an Elvis impersonator.
They would have a more lavish ceremony in France soon after.
