It's been 11 years since fans first met Kim Zolciak-Biermann on the Bravo series "Real Housewives of Atlanta." Now, as Zolciak-Biermann is gearing up for the seventh season of her spin-off, "Don't Be Tardy," she's taking a look back at her journey on reality television.
Speaking to Fox News, the 40-year-old admitted that there was only one time since 2008 where she wasn't sure if she wanted the cameras to continue rolling.
“I definitely was kind of conflicted about going back to 'Housewives' last year," Zolciak-Biermann told us. "I just wasn’t sure, and then I went for it, and then I regretted it, so that was not fun, but other than that all in all it’s been a pretty awesome ride.”

Zolciak-Bierman is especially thankful for the fact that reality television has provided her family professional home footage they can watch for the rest of their lives.
"It’s a blessing," she gushed. "I’m very thankful for all these years. I can’t imagine doing anything else.”
“[I also gained] a lot of money," the reality star jokingly added. "No, I’m just kidding. I gained, definitely aside from money and footage, a lot of growth. I mean I feel like the cameras have kind of watched me grow into who I’ve become… I am so much stronger today than I was 11 years ago. I had no idea what I was walking into 11 years ago."
As fans of both series have come to know, Zolciak-Biermann is not one to shy away from speaking her mind — even when it comes to social media. Asked what inspires her to be so candid, the blonde beauty explained that she's just "comfortable in her own skin" after all of these years.
"I definitely pop off at the mouth sometimes," she admitted, adding that she is "trying to control" it. "But, all in all, I have incredible fans and followers and I think you know I’m inspired by a lot of people I follow on Instagram… I don’t let that one a--hole or those 10 a--holes out of 10,000 incredible followers taint my day."
So when it comes to dealing with Internet trolls and critics, Zolciak-Biermann just shrugs it off, not letting other people's negativity affect her. "I think it’s more a direct reflection of who they are than it is actually who I am," she explained. "They are passing judgment."

"It still and will always be mind-blowing to me that somebody takes the time out of their day to write a negative comment on somebody else’s page," Zolciak-Biermann admitted. "It’s literally mind-blowing, and what they don't realize, and they’re stupid enough to not realize is that it’s a boomerang effect and it's coming right back to you — what you put out in this world, you get back double, and I just don’t take it personal. You don’t even know me."
Zolciak-Biermann also noted that critics only see the parts of her life she chooses to share with her nearly 3 million followers on Instagram and her viewers on "Don't Be Tardy."
"Nobody’s perfect and everybody is entitled to their opinion, but it’s just mind-blowing that you will take the time to write something negative," she explained. "Evidently, their moms didn’t teach them, ‘If you have nothing nice to say, don’t say anything at all.’"
With her own kids, the mom-of-six has taught her two oldest daughters — Brielle, 21, and Ariana 17 — how to remain positive like she does.

"I’ve taught them the same things that I’ve kind of learned on my own. It’s a direct reflection of who they are and not necessarily you," Zolciak-Biermann said of her girls, both of whom have also been subjected to criticism online. "They have been really harsh on Ariana throughout the years and I've definitely had to heavily monitor her page because she is a very different personality than Brielle."
Zolciak-Biermann, who describes Brielle as a "tough cookie" whereas Ariana is "pretty sensitive," couldn't be prouder though that both her girls are "very strong and very comfortable in their own skin."
"They enjoy life. They have fun. They follow their hearts. I think that’s how they have become so successful on social media."
As for how her kids feel about her and husband Kroy's constant PDA?
"They’re so grossed out!" Zolciak-Biermann admitted. "They’re like, ‘Gross!’ They kind of joke around about it, but they also respect the fact that we do love each other so much and we do have a great marriage."
Season 7 of "Don't Be Tardy" premieres Sunday on Bravo at 9 p.m. ET.
