Starring in the 2012 flick “Magic Mike” must have been smooth sailing for actor Channing Tatum because he used to work as a stripper before becoming a star. “I did this for about eight months of my life and I told (director Steve) Soderbergh about it, and he was just like, ‘Look, we have to make this into a movie,” said Tatum to MTV News.  ‘And I was like, ‘Why?’ and then he’s like, ‘Because I’ve never seen it before.’” (Reuters)

Channing Tatum wasn’t the only to bare nearly all in 2012’s “Magic Mike.” His co-star, actor Matthew McConaughey, also played a dancer. (Associated Press)

When she wasn’t making a vampire and werewolf swoon in the “Twilight” franchise, actress Kristen Stewart played a teen runaway-turned-stripper in the 2010 movie, “Welcome to the Rileys.” While researching for the role in New Orleans, Stewart revealed she visited a strip club and was “straight-up offered a job.” (Reuters)

Hubby Justin Timberlake isn’t the only one to bring sexy back. Actress Jessica Biel was feature in the 2009 movie “Powder Blue” as a stripper attempting to earn money for her terminally ill son. Like Kristen Stewart, actress Marisa Tomei befriended real-life strippers while researching for her role as dancer Cassidy in 2008’s “The Wrestler.” She also discovered how exotic dancing can burn major calories. “It’s really physically hard!” Tomei told People Magazine. “That pole work is crazy hard; to be really good on that pole you have to be really strong.” (Associated Press)

In 1996, actress Demi Moore starred in the movie “Striptease.” She played Erin Grant, who tackles a double life as a struggling single mother by day and a dancer in a nightclub by night. That same year, she donated her costume to the Planet Hollywood restaurant in New York, co-owned by then-husband, actor Bruce Willis. (Reuters)

In an attempt to shed her image as TV sitcom sweetheart, actress Elizabeth Berkley took on the role of Las Vegas dancer Nomi Malone in the 1995 film “Showgirls.” While the movie stirred headlines for its NC-17 rating, it was ridiculed by critics and was a commercial flop. (Reuters)

One of the most memorable roles of icon Natalie Wood was that of real-life stripper Gypsy Rose Lee in the 1962 film "Gypsy." Due to Hollywood’s censors during Wood’s time, she wore a “bikini-like outfit” to avoid nudity. (Associated Press)
