The country music superstars had been married for four years

Country music's former power couple Blake Shelton and Miranda Lambert announced their divorce one year ago today.

In the year that has followed, the exes have handled the split very differently from one another. While Lambert has been laying low since the split, her ex has been doing the opposite.

Shelton hasn't avoided interviews and released his first single after the breakup in March, which was followed by the release of an entire album. Meanwhile Lambert only released her first song since the breakup, titled "Vice," on Monday.

Shelton has also made his relationship with girlfriend Gwen Stefani incredibly public while Lambert rarely shares glimpses of her new relationship with singer Anderson East on social media.

"I don't know if one handled [the divorce] better than the other but they are handling it the exact opposite of their marriage in the final years," pop culture expert Cate Meighan told FOX411 Country. "Miranda was the one that was outspoken about [their marriage] and insisted all was good while Blake was always off doing his own thing and not really saying a whole lot...now it's the opposite."

Lambert's newfound shyness might be because she is embarrassed by her previous outspokenness, Meighan explained.

"She has to feel a little embarrassed because after all of that it didn't work out. Maybe this is more of a natural path for her...maybe this is how they both are when they're happy."

The country singers' post-split music also couldn't be more different.

"I don't want to use the word 'heartless' but [Shelton's] a guy and there is a little more abruptness [in his songs]," Meighan said. "It seems like [Lambert has] really gone through her emotional stuff since the divorce and his feels a little more like an ode to a thing that's over."

Features writer for Taste of Country Sterling Whitaker said Lambert's music is heavier than Shelton's.

"[Lambert] tends towards the more serious side as an artist and [Shelton] tends to do a lot lighter stuff," he told FOX411 Country.

Whitaker believes it's too early to tell how fans will react to Lambert's new song. Meanwhile, they have had several months to dissect the meaning behind Shelton's lyrics.

"[Shelton's] done a lot of stuff that was perceived to be about [Lambert] like 'She's Got a Way With Words.' Fans had a lot of reactions to that with some people thinking it was him trying to be ugly [and] getting back at her."

Some fans, however, were ready to praise Lambert's new tune as soon as it hit the web.

One fan commented on Lambert's new song on YouTube, "I respect the fact she kept her private life private during her divorce! What happened  between her and Blake is their own business. No one knows what went on in their personal life."

Another commenter echoed, "Honestly I don't even care if she cheated on him. The way Blake Shelton has been acting since they separated, his desperate need for EVERYONE to know EVERY detail of his relationship with Gwen Stefani, his Taylor Swift level songs. Ugh!"

However, standing up for Shelton, another user who wrote, "I honestly don't think Blake is really flaunting his relationship at all. Gwen Stefani is one of the most iconic musical artists of all time. Of course the media is going to be following the couple everywhere."

Some fans, on the other hand, are sick of hearing about Lambert and Shelton's breakup.

"Who cares...both Blake and Miranda are talented country artists in their own right," one fan wrote. "Back and forth about who did what is hilarious. It's over world, move on and appreciate their songs individually."
