The director of the upcoming “Beauty and the Beast” live-action film has revealed the movie will feature a “gay moment.”
Bill Condon revealed to the U.K.’s Attitude magazine that Gaston’s sidekick LeFou, played by Josh Gad, is the character that the moment features.
“LeFou is somebody who on one day wants to be Gaston and on another day wants to kiss Gaston,” Condon said, according to the Telegraph. “He’s confused about what he wants. It’s somebody who’s just realizing that he has these feelings.”

Condon said the reference to LeFou’s sexuality is clever.
“… Josh [Gad] makes something really subtle and delicious out of it,” Condon dished. “And that’s what has its pay-off at the end, which I don’t want to give away. But it is a nice, exclusively gay moment in a Disney movie.”
It’s not the first time a Disney movie has featured an LGBT character. “Finding Dory” briefly features a lesbian couple.
